Our Story
The Evolution of Muskogee Web Design
At Muskogee Web Design, we believe that meaningful partnerships start with understanding and that includes knowing our journey. Here’s how our business grew from a simple idea into a trusted web design and digital marketing partner for over 600 businesses.

Foundation
Started in 2009 as LUCID DMS, the business shifted from database work to full-time web design by 2013, serving 100+ clients.
Growth & Decline
From 2014–2016, client growth surged past 250 clients. By 2019, momentum declined, prompting a strategic pause to reassess direction and branding.
Reinvention
Rebranded in 2022 as Muskogee Web Design, we expanded our services, and grew from 230 to over 600 clients by 2025 through clear vision and value.
"We learned that listening, adapting, and staying true to our clients’ needs is the key to lasting growth and meaningful impact."
Matthew McWaters - CEO of Muskogee Web Design

Creating solutions that helped people.
After years of helping friends and family with database and web design projects, something began to shift. It wasn’t just about solving problems anymore - it was about the excitement of creating digital solutions that helped people. The seed of self-employment was planted, and it didn’t take long before that idea began to grow.
2009 — Starting the business.
Intent. Market. Needs.
The business officially began under the name LUCID DMS, with a focus on database development services. At the time, the mission was clear: to deliver clean, functional database solutions for small businesses. But the market had other plans and clients had different needs.

Making the transition to meet needs.
Between 2009 and 2011, the requests kept coming in, but they weren’t for databases. They were for websites. More business owners needed a trusted local expert to help them get online. So, we listened, pivoted, and leaned fully into web design. That decision changed everything.
Making the transition to meet needs.
By 2013, we had served over 100 clients and Matthew realized it was time to make a leap. Matthew left his role as a case manager to run the business full-time. It was a bold step, but one rooted in a growing passion for helping small businesses build a professional online presence.

The benefit of custom web design.
Web design was evolving fast and so were client expectations. In 2014, we transitioned away from template-based solutions and began offering fully custom websites. This allowed us to better reflect each client’s unique brand and goals and marked a major turning point in the quality and impact of our work.
Driving more visibility for our clients.
As clients began asking how to get more visibility online, we introduced Local SEO services. The goal was simple: to help clients rank higher in search results, drive more traffic to their sites, and ultimately grow their businesses through better digital exposure.

Improving the business.
With over 250 clients on board, it was clear we were doing something right. 2016 was a year of reinvestment - into tools, systems, and strategy. Every improvement was focused on serving clients more efficiently and delivering better results.
Plateau and decline in customers.
Growth began to plateau and even decline toward the middle of 2019, and that forced a pause. Instead of pushing harder, we took a step back to reassess our brand, our messaging, and the value we were delivering to our customers.

Pushing through hard times.
Growth declined in 2019 and in 2020 COVID hit everyone hard. Clients dried up and businesses pulled back on their budget due to shutdowns. This caused us to take another step back and take a hard look at what we were doing and how we were doing it. That period of reflection laid the groundwork for our next big move.
A complete realignment.
After deep evaluation and a renewed sense of purpose, we rebranded the business as Muskogee Web Design. The new name reflected not just where we’re based, but who we’re here to serve. It wasn’t just a name change - it was a complete realignment with the needs of today’s businesses.

Clarity. Purpose. Mindset.
The rebrand resonated. In just three years, we grew from about 230 clients to over 600. That growth wasn’t just numbers, it was partnerships, projects, and results. It proved that clarity, purpose, and a client-first mindset are still the strongest drivers of success.
Passionate about helping customers.
Today, Muskogee Web Design continues to evolve, now offering advanced services like Generative Engine Optimization (GEO). But one thing hasn’t changed, we’re still passionate about helping start-ups and mid-sized businesses thrive in a digital-first world.
